Dear Dorot|association d’histoire friends
Dorot|association d’histoire is in need of funding in order to continue with our endeavors and efforts to provide its much needed services, so we are turning to you, our friends, for donations.
As you know Dorot|association d’histoire is a non-profit corporation and contributions are needed in order to fund the operations. The costs and expenses needed to run Dorot|association d’histoire are covered mostly by donations from members such as yourselves. There are no membership fees, subscription fees, dues, etc., however, we still have these costs and expenses to operate the organization and research and publish. We do receive some public funding on projects but we cannot expect much for the coming year.
We perform a wide range of services at no cost at all to our members through our e-mails. The information we provide to our members is precious. And through our websites and network we are able to respond quickly to the numerous number of e-mail questions and requests we receive.
Our online databases have 25 000 entries but we own 250 000 others that need to be prepared for publication, all related to Jewish refugees.
The work of Dorot|association d’histoire has become more effective, and the success of our research proves it. The websites are attracting more and more visitors dragging more requests for which we answer.
This year we will hit the wall of 500 000 pages visited in the year by 140 000 vistors we a growth of 82%.
In order for us to proceed with the running of Jewishtraces.org and exilordinaire.org many changes need to be implemented and we need to invest in new hardware and servers and create new positions.
As we plan to launch a publishing department with a first book expected during the first term of 2009 "Nous étions indésirables" by Susanne Pollak, in hardcover fully illustrated edition; we need your support.
We will be shortly signing a cooperative agreement with an Israeli research center which focuses on history of Jews in North Africa during the Holocaust, with this agreement we will be able to find new traces of Austrian and German Jews after they left or were sent to North Africa, also we will provide this new partner with the sources we have on Jews of North Africa in France.
Every person in Dorot|association d’histoire benefits from our services and the information we disseminate, whether or not you have been researching data in our bases or just asked for localization of archives.
If you or your organization enjoys receiving and reading our e-mails, if you find them and our websites helpful, informative, etc., and you wish Dorot|association d’histoire to continue its operation, funding is needed and a donation to Dorot|association d’histoire would be greatly appreciated.
Your participation and support is vital in the continuance of our organization. Dorot|association d’histoire is a French nonprofit corporation, constituted under the Act of July 1st 1901 as amended and donations are tax deductible under French regulations for corporate and private donors.
To all of you who have supported us in our previous project, we thank you again for your thoughtfulness and your generous contributions. Your support has made it possible for dorot|association d’histoire to become what it is today and hopefully we will be able to continue for many more years to serve our unique community.
We sincerely appreciate your generosity - your support is what brings together what others tore apart many years ago. Please circulate this mail in order to support us .
Sincerely,
Manuela Wyler
